I read your comments with regret. Dr. Oz recently discussed a new division with the National Institute of Health (NIH) called Rare Disorders that allegedly provides patient assistance. If you check the listings under Oprah Radio for this week, you should find Dr. Oz's show listed. You might also try to find an Infectious Disease specialist that's affiliated with a teaching hospital in your community or enroll in a clinical trial.

Thanks for your comments and continue to keep the faith.

I applaud you for encouraging activism regarding changes to our health care system. However, my attempts to be heard by my elected representatives didn't get past the staff guard dogs. No one is interested in hearing about one person's cry for help unless it comes with a big check. My blog, www.doctorblue.wordpress.com is a chronological portrayal of my many doctor visits from 2003 on that culminated in my becoming disabled. Doctors did nothing more than accumulate metrics and refer me to other doctors because none wanted to take the time to analyze positive test results in order to make a meaningful diagnosis. Some doctors got caught up in "doctoring" their diagnosis for insurance purposes and forgot I was really ill and needed treatment. It's simply a case in which mistakes were made. The experience left me broke, facing foreclosure in very bad health. I have no family and no where to go. All because doctors no longer recognize diseases thought to be eradicated in the U.S. I have systemic actinomycosis, which has gone undiagnosed and untreated so long my spine has severely degenerated and caused neurological damage affecting all of my organs. I have yet to find a doctor with the knowledge or will to treat me. I am in a great deal of pain. This is pure torture. The treatment is IV penicillin and surgery.
